Within days of the FCC notification online of my license I received a telephone call from a local ham. A YL had sent me, through the traffic net, a message of congratulations. We chatted for a bit as I was curious about band conditions and operating ham in the states. His club was mentioned, though I had already signed up online to one that meets about 2 miles from my home. I thought it was a rather nventive method to reach out to new hams.
