Re: ARRL Contest Update

.... which brings us back to the start!

Discussing, and perhaps occasionally forwarding the newsletter here seems fair enough: those of us who already subscribe won't be annoyed. Those who don't might be interested enough to subscribe can do so, or not - their choice.

Personally, I'd be happy to see other *contest-related* newsletters, press releases, blogs about contest techniques, announcements about contests coming up or results published etc. here, within reason i.e. on-topic and probably of interest to a majority of subscribers. Perhaps best to give us a brief taster and URL for the original source , rather than the whole thing though.

It's like someone with a semi-rare prefix and likely mult dropping their call speculatively and tentatively into a pileup when the DX is asking for a different area. Worth a try ... occasionally!

Good point.

Also, many would be receiving two copies of the newsletter if it's dumped here.

IMO, it's best left as-is, as an opt-in and separate distribution.
Yes, some people will want to opt out.

Didn’t mention cost. It’s not a factor.

But don’t you think that anyone who is interested in contesting and is a member of the ARRL would be aware of the ARRL Contesting newsletter? If not, they aren’t really active with either.

I would think that anyone who is in this group would already be subscribed.

+ That's not a valid assumption. There is no cost to subscribing this list to the newsletter, as Ria N2RJ suggested.
