It’s similar in acrylic aesthetic to the new 5BDXCC and DXCC Challenge plaques.

While I think the Triple Play acrylic plaque is sort of nifty….well, I’m glad I got the older style 5BDXCC and Challenge plaques on my wall before the redesign.

The redesign was a farce. I could have taken the certificate for 5XDXCC and gone to Wally World and picked up a plastic frame of a fraction of the cost. Sixty dollars for a piece of plastic is outrageous, especially when the design is only minutely different than the certificate. They did not run that by the membership. The same membership that had dreamed and worked for the wooden plaque. It’s a legacy award and to cheapen it like they did really upset me. They explained it was some supply problem (vender went out of business I think), and my director supplied them with a list of alternate sources.  They said they “would look into it”. Nothing was ever done. That was over a year and a half ago.

Over the years, they have indicated that some changes have been made after membership polls. Fifty years of activity and membership I have never received a poll. Just constant solitations for the different “society’s”. Got a $1000.00 for this or that? Awards are way overpriced, and $60 for a piece of plastic is something put together by wing nuts.

Some have said go to the local trophy store. I am about to do that. The awards department has taken it upon themselves to handle things like they please. No membership input that I have seen.
