ARRL International Digital Contest Rules
I looked at the Rules and see you get extra points based on distance
between Grid Squares.
But, I don't see who does the calculation. Is it done by the ARRL off
the data in the Cabrillo file ? Or does the participant do the calculation.
Looks like a fun contest, but the scoring has me confused.

I think, like the Stu Perry contest on 160, your logger will calculate a “claimed score”, probably officially calculated by the sponsors robot.

This contest has something I have never seen before. You get extra
points depending upon the distance between your Grid Square and
the Grid Square of the station you work.
The distance is measured between the mid-points of the two
squares, not the distance between stations.

Hi Dick,
I’ve been in contact with Scott, N3FJP, and he and the team will be releasing a logging program for his contest. It will be ready by the time the contest debuts this year. -- All the best, Ken Campbell N6PCD |

OK, thanks for the heads up.

The Makrothen RTTY contest works along the same lines, except even more complex with band multipliers--you get a point for every kilometer the 2 grids are apart with a minimum of 100 points per qso. N1MM calculates it, unofficially of course. If you're interested in how it's done, it's explained in the Makrothen rules: https://www.pl259.org/makrothen/makrothen-rules/

Wow, a contest for Math Majors. By the time I calculate the score for
the first couple of Q's the contest will be over.

The scoring is similar to the World Wide Digi DX. N1MM handles it with ease. https://ww-digi.com/rules/
B. QSO Points: QSOs are scored only once per band, either FT4 or FT8. QSOs are one (1) point plus one (1) point for each 3000 km between Grid Square centers of the QSO partners. (e.g., 5541 km = 2 points). Short-path distances are used, regardless of actual signal path.

ARRL has on their website a table of distance between a given GRID square and all other grid squares in world. It was very helpful to me….. 73’s David David L Shealy, K4KSV davidshealy16@... On Feb 11, 2022, at 9:44 AM, Dick <w1ksz@...> wrote:
