To be clear, I am referring to DXCC rules, which up until 1986 required you to make the contacts from a single call district.

OK let's play devil's advocate.
In the past we had horse racing. Do we now amend the rules in horse
racing for people to use motorcycles to compete in horse races,
because of progress?

Ria and Gordon, this is DXCC, not VUCC. If you like VUCC, you should participate in VUCC. If you already got your VUCC, you can do it again like you said by relocating 500 miles from your original

Prior to 1986 it was limited to call district. For example I couldn’t go to W6 or even W3 to work contacts toward my existing award. To me that makes complete sense.

I think you almost have it right.
Instead of a DXCC/R for remotes, I think it should be agnostic for home or remote stations, but we centered on a specific location area. One could be working

200 km seems like a VUCC thing. It could be different for below 30 MHz. An "area" could be any number of options depending on how the committees see the issue. 500 miles, 500 km, a

I ran some 200km circles around major population centers in the US through Google Maps. A 200km limitation is very restrictive. Imagine belonging to a club that has set up several member-accessed

Its not that hard to work the first 100....actually 99, because I'm sure most have a qsl from their own country....you can do it during a DX contest weekend.....I'll have to check my log, but I think
