Andy, WA2ONG,
Well said!
We do need to clarify better apples and oranges, however.
The goal is MORE activity across each of many different operator and station peer groups.   Right now we put everyone into a mixed pot and there is a lack of clarity in what has been accomplished.

My two cents worth (remember you get what you pay for).  I live in a antenna restricted community.  Fortunately wire dipoles are invisible in a forest of trees.  I work mostly FT* with some SSB. Have had very good success with DX over the last two years.  I'll never be a contender for top DX dog.  However I'm very happy where I am and really enjoy the hobby.  For me DXCC is a personal achievement not a contest.  Quite frankly I don't care how others get there.  Whatever works for you is fine by me.  I just work at my own pace and eventually work a lot of DX.

BTW I've been licensed since 67 and will turn 71 next year.  I strongly believe that everyone needs to find their own path in theis great hobby.  Less argument and more support of newcommers would go a long way to sustaining the hobby.

Not a sermon just a thought
