The original topic is being addressed at HQ at my request.
With that said, it will take time.
Patience is key.
Before you even ask…. Yes my delete button works, …. And the last I checked “Mute This Topic” still worked.
That being said, I don’t think the original poster (May 25th ?) ever got a real answer to his situation.
Meanwhile, this topic has migrated from the physical characteristics of the 5BDXCC Award and the accompanying medallions to:
What Entities should/should not be inclusive of the DXCC list and why; to:
Grid awards from where and how, who sponsors them, and should ARRL have one; to:
Pirate Stations; to:
Validating QSL cards and methods used;
All under the same subject heading. Sounds like a roundtable discussion at a convention among old friends who have not seen each other in 25 years. Does anyone realize there are over 130+ posts to just this one topic?
Would it not be courteous to others to change the subject heading if the discussion were about something different other than the medallions received by one deserving amateur? There are several good topics here, many quite interesting and worth following along with, others after a few posts not holding interest anymore. That being said, you still have to wade through all the other posts. I can understand why not many Directors or Managers would follow these threads. I have yet to see the Awards Manager weigh in on any of this, so it seems a futile exercise in keyboarding.
Could the subject be muted…… sure. However, some of the topics are interesting, and informative, maybe even to the person who muted this subject long ago.

The ARRL has a grid award program, but only for VHF/UHF, called the VUCC.
eQSL has HF awards as well. Quite a number of them.
The GAPA organization offers a number of digital grid and prefix awards:
I've used eQSL and GAPA (works on the honor system, no card submission) and been happy with them.

Subject: Re: [ARRL-Awards] 5B DXCC and WAS Medallions
As a follow up to post from Ken, AB1J, about creating a grid square awards program within ARRL, since FT8 now represents over 60% of QSOs as of May 2021 as reported by ClubLog via bit.ly/FT8OP..

Interesting site... I'll need to break out the Mr. GOOGLE web page translation function, but it looks interesting.
The Western Siberia Organization runs an ongoing grid award program based on grids. Pretty interesting, and some nice awards.
In some ways, makes our grid chase look pretty tame. Even accepts LoTW confirmations.

qrz.com and eQSL both run HF grid programs. The GAPA group <http://gapawards.com/index.html> runs HF digital mode grid awards. I think some EU digital organizations do also, but better check that.
Lots of FT aficionados are fanatical about collecting grid locs. for the above or other organizations.
I totally agree with you re DXCC.
Geopolitical impacts of entity availability is part of the game. If people really get upset over that reality they have some choices.
2. Get some authority to recognize pirate Amateur Radio operations in uncooperative and/or repressive regimes.
On a more serious related note:
I still wonder why Grid Squares haven't caught on for HF, or is there a program based on them that I've missed?
I too agree with Neil N4FN, on this point. Another one the concerns me is Turkmenistan EZ. Amateur Radio has been banned in that country since 2006. So for all the folks that need that entity, I hope we live long enough to see a change in the politics. Why this one is still on the list escapes me, as it is totally unworkable, and been that way for many years.
+ In entire history of the DXCC award program, no DXCC entity has ever been removed because of unworkability. There has never been a guarantee that you can work them all.
+ If you'd prefer an award program in which success is assured, either find one, or start one that satisfies your desires. Please leave DXCC alone.
